Lianne’s Blog Squad Advice: Brain Storm for New Ideas

Lianne Phillipson-Webb

The unofficial version of Lianne…

1. Tell us about yourself and your business.

I’m a mom, who only has 24 hours to cram it all in. Nourish my daughters with good food and love, run my business – Sprout Right – and find some time for myself and husband. It’s tough to get fit it all in, but somehow it comes together.

I am passionate about food and what it can do for our bodies, when it’s the right food of course. Becoming a nutritionist was the best decision I ever made. It took until I was in my 20′s to figure it out, but since embarking on this path, I live and breathe it.

Sprout Right was born after my first daughter. All the troubles that I had feeding her inspired me to help others. I needed support and couldn’t find it, but that’s not the case for other new parents as my supportive nutrition company and my book – Sprout Right, is there for everyone. From private cooking classes to workshops, Mommy Chef DVDs and consultations, parents have access to whatever they need at every step and stage of raising a family.

2. Do you blog for business? Can you describe a bit of how you use it?

I blog on SproutRight.com/blog. I use it as a way to share information, comment about issues that plague parents and anything in the news that needs a comment. I also blog for iVillage.ca a Rogers company. That blog gets more attention than my own. But as I am an expert for the site, I love to brainstorm with my editor for great ideas. My latest was how to eat a rainbow and all the benefits of different colours of food. It was great fun to write!

3. Do you use SEO or social media in conjunction with your blog?

I use social media but am still a bit weak when it comes to SEO on my blog. My web guys are amazing at helping me with SEO and I’m quite happy to leave that in their very capable hands.

4. What’s the best blogging advice you’ve ever been given?

Show my personality. Although that took a while to completely understand that tip.

I thought my personality had to be the nutritionist who is constantly teaching others. But what I came to realize, is that we learn by others sharing their experience or ‘story’. I now share my story–what’s happening in my life and at my dinner table. It draws others in and really shows that I’m living in the trenches with everyone else who is trying to feed themselves and their kids the best way they know how.

  1. [...] advice for this tip is to post as often as you can, but to not wait too long between posts. There was a time when blogs were the "latest and greatest" thing online. While they may not get as m…om good blogging advice, regardless of how new or experienced they may be. The good news is that [...]
