I had the pleasure of meeting Danielle LaPorte in 2011 when she spoke at our WIBN event in Vancouver. Danielle’s calm and reassuring stage presence had me wanting more.  I read the Fire Starter Sessions on a trip to New York and I have to say it was a bit of a life changing read for me. I was struggling with career choices and entrepreneurial decisions (and even some personal ones). Her book really spoke to me. I knew that she could make a big impact in the lives of my community members as she had mine. So I made the decision in late 2012 that Danielle would be the headliner at the WIBN Conference in April of 2013. The conference sold out and my west coast members and community told me we had to bring the conference to the west coast… so we have. On October 6 & 7, 2013 Danielle will be our featured speaker over two days. On day 1 Danielle will focus on giving at advice in an informal setting of our Urban Retreat (which is now sold out). On day 2 Danielle will be at our conference as our opening key note speaker. New to this conference, we will be selling a Danielle LaPorte package you won’t be able to get anywhere else – that is an amazing bundle of her NEW Desire Map Book and the FireStarter  Sessions (yes the one that changed my life). Danielle will be on hand to sign books as well!  Here is my interviews with Danielle LaPorte:

danielle laporte the strategy of desire

How does your business help entrepreneurs and professional women?

I write and speak about creating lives of meaning, and work that feels good to put out into the world.

What advice would you give to conference attendees?

We need to change our relationship to goal setting and ambition. Knowing how you actually want to feel is the most potent form of clarity that you can have. Generating those feelings is the most powerfully creative thing you can do with your business and your life.

What’s your favourite business tool?

Sincerity and Evernote.

Describe in one word what keeps you going during stressful times and why?

Core desired feelings.

What do you hope conference attendees will take away from hearing you speak at our conference?

High octane inspiration that translates in action!

I had the thrill and pleasure of putting together a Spreecast with Danielle LaPorte earlier this year. We had over 130 people sign up to listen and participate and tons of really cool questions were submitted that we had the chance to throw at Danielle. Poor Danielle was a bit sick but such a trooper. It was great for everyone to get to know Danielle a bit more before our conference and urban retreat, as she will be a star feature about both.

More about The Desire Map:

You want it and you want it bad. Aspiring. Hoping. Plotting. Recurring. Reaching. Bubbling beneath your surface.
You crave it — and it craves you.

So you make a plan to get it. A to-do list. The bucket list. Quarterly objectives. Strategy. Accountability. The goal. Except . . .

You’re not chasing the goal itself, you’re actually chasing a feeling.

We have the procedures of achievement upside down. We go after the stuff we want to have, get, accomplish, and experience outside of ourselves. And we hope, yearn, pray that we’ll be fulfilled when we get there. It’s backwards. It’s outside in. And it’s running us in circles.

What if, first, we got clear on how we actually wanted to feel in our life, and then we laid out our intentions? What if your most desired feelings consciously informed how you plan your day, your year, your career, your holidays — your life?
