Member Spotlight: Tamara McPherson from Wondermoms.ca

Tamara McPherson from wondermoms.ca is one of our panelists for our Winning Websites event coming up April 28th.

1. Tell us about your business

WonderMoms.ca is an interactive site focusing on families, serving Burlington, Milton, Mississauga, Oakville the GTA and surrounding regions. Created to reach out to other Moms and families to offer support, it has become a community of encouragement, friendship and strength for parents and families. We also strive to make a difference in the community. A very important aspect of WonderMoms.ca is our investment in community support.

2. Other than being an entrepreneur, who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a happily married mother of 4 beautiful daughters, ranging in age from 5-12 years.  My time management is tested everyday trying to operate a successful business while still having quality time for my wonderful family.  I relish the challenges of everyday life.

3. What motivated you to go into business for yourself?

My motivation for going into business for myself was to be able to fulfill a personal commitment to myself and my husband.  From the beginning, we decided that working independently would allow me to be a better mother,  while still having a thriving career. The ability to set my own hours, and to make the business commitments that I alone know that I can keep.  There is always the proverbial juggling, trying to balance the needs of my family while keeping my business relevant and fresh.  I take pride in what I do, and my business associates and members know this to be true.

4. How do you overcome challenges and obstacles in your business?

Challenges and obstacles are always going to be there, you must strive to handle them before they arise.  Excellent time management skills and the desire to always do better are also very helpful whether operating from the home office or attending functions and events out of town.  I truly enjoy making a difference, be it big or small.

5. What are your greatest strengths as an entrepreneur?

I believe my biggest strength as an entrepreneur would be my undying passion to do better for others.  Trying to make a difference in peoples lives who may not know of options available to them.  I love being a brand advocate for many large companies, trying new products and being involved in getting the word out.  When I like something, my passion and sincerity shine through.  My heart is in it for all the right reasons.
